Larry Wardwell, the author of Confessions of a Closet Yogi, grew up in the outskirts of Boston during the 1950s. He enlisted in the Air Force when he was 17 and ended up guarding B-52 bombers outside in the cold South Dakota winter. After his discharge, he graduated with a degree in international relations from Ohio State, and worked at the Defense Intelligence Agency in Washington, DC. He met his wife Linnea in 1966 and together they began a journey of exploration into higher states of consciousness, which led them to teach meditation for nearly two decades.

In the early 1990s, while continuing their personal practice of meditation, they began organizing conferences on botanical medicine. Larry still loves to tell a good story. (See recent posts.)  He continues his work as an educator, bringing information to health professionals about the value of alternative and herbal medicine. They maintain a large library of articles and recordings on botanical medicine at their site www.botanicalmedicine.org Larry and Linnea live in a solar-powered home they built themselves in the mountains above Ashland, Oregon. They still go to Maine every the summer.
